Avatar 3D Imax...Oh Yeah

Avatar was a great movie. I saw it in the theater with a few friends when it first came out and I thought it was an amazing story. The fact that James Cameron thinks on this epic level and actually carrys out his vision is miraculous to me. He dreams on a much grander scale then I do and I feel truely fortunate to be given a glimspe into his imagination.

Avatar is the story of the human race traveling well beyond earth and landing on a new planet called Pandora. The natives there are blue creatures with tails and are 4 times as tall as us. In many ways they exist on their planet much as early humans did on Earth...they live off the land, respect their earth mother and the gifts she betows on them and they live in a totally different mindframe as the consumer driven people of Earth.

One of the most fascinating things to me was how they actually made the movie using the actors movements and facial expresiions to create this wonderful film. It's hard to describe but even though most of the movie is CGI they developed this technology so that when they were shooting scenes they could use the actors, their body movements, their facial expressions and be shooting on a sound stage but look through the camera and see the world of Pandora come to life. It was breathtaking.

See the movie whether or not you are interested. By the end of the 2 1/2 hours you'll be a true believer in James Cameron's ability to transform a simple ordinary story into a larger than life, beyond your wildest dreams reality.
